In Loving Memory of Richard Schreibman

Richard Schreibman | Alson Jewelers

We have been deeply saddened by the loss of our father Richard Schreibman.  He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and businessman admired for his kindness, sincerity and generosity.  He was committed to his family, which was always of the utmost importance in his life.  He was a man who constantly led by example, setting the moral compass for generations to come. Richard was a man who believed in giving back to his community and served on the board at Menorah Park Center for Senior Living, ORT, Jewish Federation of Cleveland and Jewish Federation of Palm Beach.  He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, pickle ball and loved working in his yard and growing orchids.  Richard was especially proud of his family’s history as jewelers and passing the business on to his two sons, Chad and David, the fourth generation in the family business.

Richard started working in the family business, then known as Alvin’s Jewelers in 1958. In 1961 he met his beautiful wife Barbara. They married 6 months later and quickly started their family.  They had five beautiful children, Michael, Jodi, David, Chad and Sari.  In 1964, Richard’s father Alvin along with Richard, his brother Larry and sister Marcia opened a free-standing jewelry store located at 26th and St. Clair Avenue in Cleveland. They decided to combine Alvin’s name and the word son creating a new name for their store, Alson.

The business was always Richard’s passion and nothing made him happier than to share that passion with his sons. After being at the location on St. Clair Avenue for over 40 years, Richard’s sons, Chad and David decided it was time to grow the business and bring Alson Jewelers to the east side of Cleveland. The store opened at its current location on Chagrin Boulevard in June of 2002.

Richard touched everyone that he came into contact with.  His sweet smile, gentle manner and thoughtful generous spirit always shined through.  He was a true gem that will never be forgotten and forever is in our hearts.

  1. I am so, so sorry for Richard’s passing! It was a long time ago that I last saw him, but I remember him as being a very sweet guy and good human being, which is certainly borne out by all of his accomplishments across the years. May he rest in peace, no more suffering. And may God give you strength and healing during these difficult times.

I would like to make a donation in his memory….could you advise me which organizations or agencies he was most fond of!
    All the best, cousin Roberta

    1. Thank you Roberto for your kind words. You can make a donation the Barbara and Richard Schreibman Grandchildren’s Fund at Menorah Park or Seidmman Cancer Ceneter at University Hospitals of Cleveland.
