How many years have you been designing jewelry?  Since I was a young boy I highly appreciated fashion and I always wanted to dress women.  In those years, I used to work in the hotel business and I met a large number of interesting and fashionable ladies who spurred my creativity to become a reality.  In 1977, I tried to make this dream come true and this is who I am today, an innovative jewelry designer.

What is the first piece of jewelry you designed?  One of the very first designs which I loved was the Afrika Collection.  I believe that some of my clients sold one piece each to Elizabeth Taylor and Farrah Fawcett.

Tell us about the significance of the ruby in your pieces?  To create happiness is one of the most important wishes of my life.  I’ve always been looking for something special to give my clients, and the ruby, thanks to history and it’s legendary good allure, is the perfect secret gift that I dedicate to them.  Indeed, wearing a ruby near the skin promotes a long, healthy and happy life.

What is the best advice you have received?  The uncle of Queen Elizabeth, Mr. Mountbatten:  “A great man shall be very clever, but most of all, he shall have a good memory which is necessary to always remind him that he has a heart.”

What advice would you give to up and coming jewelry designers? I don’t like to give advice to other persons, however, I would definitely suggest to learn as much as possible from other renowned designers and create only jewelry which represents their style.  So…Be Yourself!!

If your weren’t designing jewelry, what would you be doing?  It would take a long time to describe what I would be doing if I wasn’t a jewelry designer.  Very simply,  I can respond in this manner:  I love life, I love sports, I love flowers, I love writing, I love reading and there’s not much about life which doesn’t fascinate me.  Therefore, I could be doing any other business without hesitation as long as I was fascinated.

All-time favorite movie?  1. Gone With The Wind (V. Fleming), 2. Cleopatra, 3. La Ciociara (Vittorio de Sica), 4. Schindler’s List (Steven Spielberg), 5. La Vita e Bella (Roberto Benigni)

What is your personal motto? I don’t know if you can call this a personal motto, I am tremendously positive.  I have never changed during the years, I have always been myself.  I love to be different and innovative and I always felt that I had an obligation of being socially responsible to my staff, to my clients and to people in need.  Therefore, do whatever you want to , whenever you want to, as long as it makes you happy in you personal life.
